hey guys. i am currently slacking in the mg pe staffroom. soooo. that's what i'm doing now. relief pe at mg. when i don't have lessons, i get to play freecell or go online. and i can't go home because i have training at night =( i have decided to post about my teaching stint here. because i'll have no nosy students poking round here. well what can i say. some are insolent, some are sweet. but the bad aren't wicked and the good aren't saints. i'm almost done with taking height and weight so hopefully life will be less mundane soon. also i get to be house mistress for a while heh heh! how cool is that. i am the official call girl of the office. since i can't contribute anything significant, i end up clearing all the crappy stuff. (like keying in height and weight) but it's good to get out of the house, otherwise i'll end up staying at home and waste my time playing freecell and going online. the pay's ok but that's not why i'm here. (mat says i'm mad, but that's cos she's earning BIG BUCKS) i heard that adrea was working at a fitness centre. IS THIS TROOOOO?!?! i am turning into such a neat freak now. with so much time on my hands, i end up filing things and putting things in order for the fun of it. oh and my favourite office pastime is making myself milo to drink. (= life's not bad.

ok over to the next working girl. (i assume the guys can't work.)

the christmas party thing turned out to be more of a potluck dinner but ANYWAY the turnup was good n it was NOISY (for a party to be happening, ZHIYU muST be present) the whole night so i guess that's a good thing rite?(:

How's everyone doing? I know GP Compre was a real challenge (my heart wept at the Summary and AQ...) but Paper 1 was ok, yes? The most popular question was obviously the one on modern technology and whether it always improves people's quality of life. I'm sure that was a piece of cake for most, if not all who attempted!

As Presiding Examiner, I thought I should clue you in on some things that have happened but should not have happened...Sigh...so many people forgot their entry proof/confused the confirmation slip with the entry proof/got their index number wrong/forgot to write (i) their name (ii) the question number. I was in the hall and so many people scrambled while we were tallying the scripts and again after the invigilators entered the Ops Room. I don't have to tell you that it was quite embarrassing... Rules prohibit us teachers/Presiding Examiners of Hwa Chong from intervening in any way for those who didn't know they left out necessary information, hence didn't scramble. For your own sake and ours, please be more mindful for the rest of the papers. I am with you! (and not only in spirit...uhmmmm 'coz I'll be in school at 6.30 e-v-e-r-y-d-a-y-) Lots and lots of love!

oh my oh my. i feel so xian studying. boohoohoo. :( i'm sure a lot of you feel this way too. but we must persevere okay???
so few people are online nowadays... which is a good sign! cos that means everyone is hitting the books.

it's just a few more days/weeks so we mustnt lose our momentum in studying.

Trust you soccer-obsessed people to talk about only soccer today!! Today's picnic was so attention grabbing! Half the school was wondering what in the world we were doing and the other half probably thought we were crazy and boliao. I'm glad we initiated the idea! Lots of aspiring cooks like Eddie(potato salad omg heaven), Jin Hau(sushi!!!!) and Cheryl(konnyaku jelly)! And who's
gonna forget Mrs Ng's oh-so-chocolatey chocolate cakes!

It's the last day of official school lessons! I don't think anyone really feels that nostalgic yet because there (obviously) is still a lot more lessons to come and everyone's too caught up with studying. But I guess when the time comes for us to leave each other we'll be crying and bawling till the next day -- 05S70 is the definitely foundation of our lives in JC :)

whoa today's after sch soccer rocked as much as post-PE soccer haha... was so sad i'd to go cuz my dad volunteered to fetch me -sobsob-

but wad say u guys if we play again on monday before chem? chem will probably start at 11 or 1130 so maybe we can go in e morning (maybe 9? or earlier for e enthu ones lol...) n play soccer until 10 or so den go shower n have lunch together before gg for lessons all refreshed after a fruitful morning of soccer in the cool morning breeze, soaking the full beauty of the rising sun and the clear early sky as we vent our pented energies on the ball at our feet. or we can lunch together after chem instead of after soccer? won't suggest soccer in the afternoon though; morning breeze replaced by the brutal ball of fire that has since developed from the beautiful tot of an orange ball in the morning.

do reply! if we can get 7 (and a ball), i'll assume it's on ya? (then maybe study session after chem? strictly optional though)

okay so there wasn't softball today. -_- so sad!

but we played field soccer for the first time! against 76. and though we lost i think we could take MANY positives from the game and we just need to get used to playing together more. for eg jinhau was damn reliable in defence! and kiat tat's strength was his strength in barging through 3 or 4 defenders even if they touched the ball! and eddie/chun had a few one-to-one opportunities! haha. want to play again next week?

Haha... Tired of trying to avoid studying, hence I shall blog. Hee.. :-) Anyway, Grace and I were thinking of organising a whole day event of amazing race cum shi2 zi4 lu4 kou3 on either the 28th or 29th of November. So keep the days free k. Haha... Wanna give our dear former and present activities and welfare reps a break and some fun :-) Yup. Basically, u'll be given some clues (not as easy as the birthday clues...hehheh...) and u'll have to find the respective places and overcome obstacles. U'll also have to eat food from each of these places, e.g. if the starting food is carrot cake, then the next food must start with cake or the chinese equivalent. The last food item will be given, so u'll have to link the 2nd last item to the last item. Yeah... tt's abt it. I was thinking of teams in 4s or 5s. The money to finance this event would probably be from the leftovers from the class fund, if there is. Any violent objections? Oh! And please pay $5 class fund to dear Grace or me, if Grace disappears. And those who have long-term debts, pleeeeeeeease pay us soon... We'll GLADLY help u all formulate ur own custom-made instalment plans at no charge. Oh! And one more thing..... I would really like to thank all those who have so readily offered to help us for Grace's, Gracia's and my fundraising project, even when we're so "last-minute"... THANK U all VERY MUCH!!!

no one's written about national day celebrations so i shall be the FIRST!

the celebrations were so-so. the artemis musical was hilarious! well i thought so anyway. from the drowning to the stupid emo merlion. and then there was the singing. depsite not knowing the lyrics and zhiyu laughing at my inability to differentiate chinese words, i must say i enjoyed singing with the class. and then spot-the-june joined us and relived her youth!

class lunch was so much fun. we went to KFC and bukit timah plaza since pizza hut was full. but i thought it was worth it as the food was cheaper ($4 for a student meal) and it was quite an open space so we could make as much noise as we wanted and calvin had enough space to do charades. speaking of which, the highlight of lunch (or what took us to 4pm) was CHARADES! the 8 of us (xun, sua, edmund, joel, alice, xingyan, mat and i) (and calvin who came after bio S) finished lunch and embarked on an impromptu session of charades. matilda had to teach them 'basic charades signals' like the movie one. and the syllables one. and sua kept giving these ridiculous ones. i can't wuite remember what they were. xun had to do them. i only remember sua's island. when he was swimming. let's see if i can remember the good ones. ok i can't. someone else fill this in. i can only remember the last few.

[and class PE is awesome. we played softball and we ALMOST beat the guys. we held them 5-1 for the longest time then they had to cheat and equalise. by thenm PE was over. DRAT IT. but it was so much fun. i'm really grateful i ended up in this class instead of elsewhere. because we are an "exclusive english-speaking" class (according to some neighbouring twits who are jealous that we can get more than half the class for class outings) and they're so much fun. they're ever so spontaneous and put up with my nonsense when i whine.]

i guess my feelings for the class are echoed by what xun has said and i believe, EVERYONE in the class. words really can't describe how much i love the class, but i shall try :)

though i'm a 2nd intaker in s70, i can proudly say, my bonding to the class is nowhere less than th others, be it the 1st intakers or the rest of the 2nd intakers. in s70, there is no distinction between the intakers, agree? :D

Ares night has clearly proven once again, that the s70 spirit holds strong. it is always there. thank you all the boys who put up such a SWEET and ENDEARING performance! and all the girls, whether you turned up or not :) i love y'all all the same!

prelims and ultimately A lvls are coming. lets all jiayou as a class! come to think of it, we don't have many chance to sit for lessons as a whole class together. lets all cherish the times we have left to be as a whole class ya?

s70 has left so many beautiful memories for me, and i believe again, for everyone in class too. be it the dramafeste experience, that 70 show performance, the many creative birthday celebrations, the super fun chalet on 29 jun, all these wouldn't have happened if not for each and every one of s70 :):)

and the girls!! thanks for coming down - i think that alone is already quite a feat given that it's this time of year and many other classes would have preferred to use a lovely friday night for revision or relaxation or sth. thanks especially to YUQIN for cunningly garnering attendance! haha! i'm so glad there's no great gender divide in S70 or anything - in fact the girls have mostly been the ones initiating crazy stuff in the past! (not like a great gender divide is possible anyway given people like Sua..Edmund..Jeremy..)

omg we messed up our harmony so bad tt it was funny!!! don't care man we have to redeem ourselves in between lessons or something - put quite a lot of effort into it and its supposed to sound quite nice :) but i saw random pple downstairs giving a "huhhhhh what are you trying to do" look..quite funny.

i'm the FIRST in class, as in, our class 05S70, to pass driving theory, i presume. :) lol. hahaha. oh, and i got full marks too. =)hahahhahahahahah. so while all of you were at the chalet, i was holed up at home, busy muggin my theory book and trying lots of practice tests.

okayyyy.. i shouldnt be so happy, it takes ages and ages and ages to get a Full License in Aus, i'll be really old by the time i get it.
i only have a learner permit, so i can drive a car under the instructions of anyone with a Full License.
and considering i dont have much time, i have a feeling that i'll prob not be able to take driving lessons hurhur. i'll see...

is it true that in Singapore, we (our batch) can only get our license at age 21??????????

congrats to the volleyballers who got into the semis and ultimately TOP 4! great work guys!

for everyone who doesn't already know, the vball girls are playing their semis next tuesday at ccab at 2pm. it's a holiday so everyone shld be free! :D

phew. for netball we've just started on our quarter finals. we played temasek today and won but i'm not sure about the score. for those interested in the first round scores, (i don't see why you shld be heh) it's on the netball board!

we're playing SA on mon at 440 at kallang and AJ on wed at 440. supporters are welcome and i can promise it won't be a boring game (groan). for your info, SA tied with AJ in today's game and both are dying to go through. so lucky us we get the brunt of their frustrations hoho. so that's why i think the games won't be boring.

heh if mrs tan still reads our blog (sneakily as usual), we can leave a BIG hint here to let us off early. hoho.

anyhow, speaking of competitions, chun chun and koh koh have a game on monday and wednesday. they're playing ajc on wed so ask them for the times! :)

oh, can you believe it? i havent met any lame people over here yet...
and ta-da! i dont sound Singaporean! i guess what my JC friends been telling me about how i sound is true... today, this Singaporean asked where i was from, and was surprised to learn that i was from Singapore. She was like, "You dont sound Singaporean!!!"
and guess what I learnt for chem today? WAVES!!!! alot of pp were like o_O isnt this physics?

anyway, about CIP.
remember last year I proposed a musical for Cip during nov/dec hols?
hahahah. that never came about. everyone was too busy i guess. anyway, a musical will be great - lotsa hours, lotsa learning (service learning wat!)lotsa bonding, even more FUN- but since this is A levels year, you wont have much time to do such a big scale project. Unless you co-produce/join with... let's say, the juniors. that'll be much easier time-wise.
another idea is a camp for underprivileged children! it could be a one day affair or a 3 days camp. any kind of camp - camp for fun, or teaching English etc.
hahahah. or you could do something for the environment...
or have a bake sale / food sale and all proceeds will go to a charity. but that's prob not really service learning... what the school wants us to do.

yup, anyway, no matter what you do, remember about $$$, might have to raise funds in order to carry out the project.

anyway i tink wadeva S70 participate in dramafeste, we will win sth. last yr, S70 mainly did only the chorale parts n we won "best ensemble" only (cuz the other parts were taken by other classes) den this yr's dramafeste was very S70-ish n we won best play, best direction (we've got directors from S70) n best this best that n u see S70 v involved in those things we won. muahahaha... ego boost...

Oh man, Dramafeste is over and it has been an amazing experience working with you Eddie...you have this strange magic of making everything look so natural and smooth...love it! You should have acted in Dramafeste last year -.-' Haha...anyway it was an experience I never regret, even though we had to stay back late on many nights. I believe our winning formula was how each department was led by very dedicated production crews, and how everything just came together so nicely without us having to worry and tear out hair out, and yes having many directors allowed us to be open to many ideas. (Though cliche, the experience has really shown me the strength of unity and cooperativity...none of us could have done it all alone...) I remember fondly when we first started out, struggling with the plot of the play and rushing out the lines while auditioning (1 day 1 scene haha...do you still remember the 'narrative scaffold' and the meeting at Serene Centre macdonalds where the idea of the play was born?) but you, together with Alice, Sheryl, Chin Yuen, Yuqin, Kenneth, Zhou Hao, Xiangyu, Rachel, Jiaqi, Dawei and our dear actors and actresses (Erik and Yee Chien yeah!!!! 70 POWER!! and not forgetting Ronald! and all the crew and chorale, + wenqiang and people like xun who helped out a bit here and there) WE MADE OUR DREAM COME TRUE! It was unbelievable!

P.S. I just thought about it and realised that we've actually exceeded our initial expectations and goals. We wanted to beat Apollo at first, but since Mr Perry said that ours is the best play he has seen in 7 years of Dramafeste running, it means that we've also beat the Apollo play last year, and the year before, and ....

Haha, now how's that for braggin'

To Yee Chien: The only regret I have for Dramafeste was that you didn't get the Best (supporting or not) Actress award...In my heart (and many others too) you are truly deserving of it, and we really think you should have won it. Your own expectations for yourself made it so easy to work with you, because we did not have to worry about your performance at all - it was consistent and spectacular throughout. I am so very glad with myself that I insisted on having you as Lolita, when we were casting. You brought her to life, exactly as we had meant her to be in the script. WELL DONE!!!

yuqin you forgot ronald! he's in our jnr class and he did the spotlights!

i can't believe it's over. once in a while my mind keeps drifting to the play, to certain scenes, to lilin doing her 'soon he'll be gone permanently', or eric and his stroking of the tray, or yeechien and her wailing or erik and his chorale scene, or cass and her ultra moving scene. or even just to writing the script, or dumb practices where we did anything but practice.

calvin! everyone loved the script! you are a bloody genius. the whole structure of the play, the flashback, the idea of the changing colours for each account, the moving doors, the eerie physical play scenes, the spotlight, the whole bloody play! i cannot imagine how you came up with it. reading kenneth's blog, and his analysis of the play, i too am truly amazed at your genius. the play and it's basic form was shaped by you. i hope everyone realises that though i was director by name, calvin pretty much formed the script and came up with all the critically brilliant ideas. he's just modest enough to not say anything about it.

alice! everyone loved the chorale! (except my boring father haha) but seriously, it's what stood out. and you just made it so so effective. you guys (you and calvin) are really really talented. and to see the work you've done with the chorale, choreographing everything, coming up with the lines and all, it was just brilliant.

yuqin! the props! haha. oh my goodness. calvin and i have agreed that we left the props dept to a totally competent, totally amazing crew. i don't have kenneth's vocab range but the doors, the money, everything was SO real. the doors were a masterpiece. you and kenneth did really really well. and calvin said that we had so little to worry about because every department was so competent. (like you and props and zhouhao and lights) and i absolutely agree.

haha jiaqi slacker! haha no but seriously, where did you get cass' fireman suit from? wardrobe dept!! hahaha ok i dont want to say anything about you here! :P

and to our jnr class. ronald lights! SPOTLIGHTS i might add. without whom the play wouldn't be the same. SHADOW SHADOW. yes everyone felt the lights were really good! thank you for doing such a brilliant job!

YEE CHIEN AND ERIK! my lovelies! amazing both of you. really really. i hope you guys know how proud i am of you guys! :) well done. really. well done. your section is too short because i'm simply lost for words. everytime i think about you guys i start smiling because you did so well. and i just don't know how to congratulate you guys enough. my little stars!

to xun and sua who came down and fine-tuned our chang chang segment. thank you for bothering to stay back and for putting in the effort to help sharpen the play. i really really really appreciate it! :) sua's experienced thespian mind and his critical comments were really helpful and xun haha. what can i say. the crowd loved the cymbals!

to wenqiang who joined us later on and helped with makeup, with the chorale, for making an effort to join us. thank you too! :)

to everyone else who supported us in one way or another, be it coming down to watch the play or by giving words of encouragement, THANK YOU!!

in the Uni of Melb library now, there are alot of libraries but this is the largest one. it's baillieu library which is like 4 or 5 storeys high and we can borrow up to 30 books at one go. quite cool eh! and i think i'm supposed to book the computer in order to use but i didnt. 2nd day of sch for me, so attending introductory lectures today. i can get lost around here, because i have classes at different places/streets and one might take 20 min to walk from one class to the next.
i cant connect to the internet at home cos i didnt bring the broadband cable!! cos it doesnt come with the laptop, so i totally forgot/didnt know about it, so i have to buy the cable but i havent yet.
it's very hot here... and i have ALOT of things to settle/buy. which i'll tell you guys another time. the temperature fluctuates.

omg this is damn lag but i couldn't believe that 06s70 (or 'u guys' if any of u are reading this) actually COOKED all that stuff for JTS! it wasn't just the quantity tt was amazing but the QUALITY of it as well - tons of exotic food even!! my god i need to learn from the juniors before my mum flies off again and i have to live on my own lousy cooking or ke ai ji. and of course most importantly it was the EFFORT dedicated to what other classes would deem an irritating warlao-why-must-treat-seniors tradition that's worth scrapping - you guys/06s70's THE BEST!! now we (the seniors) must also think of some way to match u guys already man..hahah. eh! should we invite 06S70 pple to this blog? or do they have a separate one?

but ya anyway - happy chinese new year!

Basically this is a children musical that is a "??????????” ?sorry i dunno how to say this in english so i just quote wad the teacher told us...) It's certainly more than your usual school drama standard cuz this ????? is sth like the Singapore Arts Festival except in mandarin, which explains the higher than usual tic prices. But I'm sure you guys won't be disappointed! =D even tho it may be a bit kiddy (cuz it's meant for children) i think u guys will enjoy it anyway.
cuz besides getting to see me act, the shows the singapore hokien huay kuan (ttz the troupe i'm in that's putting up this show) haf put up all these yrs have always had gd reviews n we sell out everytime, which brings me to my next message.

pls place your orders and pay me by 21st January (saturday) cuz ttz my deadline for getting good tics. Basically they let the actors order first so we get better seats before the public snaps those up. So please order by then k? Thanks a lot!

alice i saw you walking home that day! it's been good to see you guys here and there in school! (i.e. rachel edmund, kitkat, cheryl) chunli and adrea are busy proliferating the sex industry in thailand (JUST KIDDING. they're teaching the kids english) and will be back this coming wednesday. i think the councillors have the senior prom on their hands so all the best for that guys!

sua i've got orders for ali baba already! it seems your fame (or infamy) has spread far and wide! they want to know when the performance is and how much the tickets are. (are there even tickets yet?!) and quite embarassingly, i have NO IDEA! anyhoo, i trust that you are having a productive holiday!

what's up with the bio assignment? who's in my group and what's our topic? and can i ask? i was under the impression that we have tests on the first day of school. i know the bio department has kindly (grunt) decided to test us on photosynthesis onwards. chem is alkanes, alkenes and arenes. are we doing anything for math or gp? and you know the bioinformatics assignment? when's that due?

Support Entropy!

Hello!

As Singaporeans, we should support local acts, especially excellent local bands. There will be one guest-performing at the A12 concert next week. Here are the details:

If there ain't got love (charity concert in aid of The Community Chest)
Date- 15th Nov 2005 (Tuesday)
Time- 7.30pm
Venue- Chinese High Drama Centre
Ticket charge- $6 only
Guest of honour- Mrs Chin
Guest performers- Entropy and MAD

You may buy tickets from any A12 person. Or from me. But preferably not me cuz i'm a slacker. Do note that the money goes to charity. I'm not sure what that charity does but judging by the word "chest" in its name, I'm guessing it's something related to heart disease or lung disease.

Do come support. At least come for Entropy, which personally I feel is the highlight of the whole show. You can go to toilet when the other people are performing (but preferably not cuz it's damn rude) but you cannot go to toilet when Entropy is performing because you will be shortchanging yourself (n therefore it is quite a serious crime to do so)

Anyway this is Entropy's first ever public performance so it is really very special. It is also their first release featuring their new member, Edmund, ever since their famous "I Dream" MV, made by the other 3 members, made its rounds around the school and caused quite a stir. The MV is available in the "Media" section of this blog.

So do come and support Entropy! They are good. Bring lightsticks and posters and banners and whatever and, most importantly, remember to scream with extreme fervour.
